Ripple honorary former chief technology officer David Schwartz (데이비드 슈워츠) said he currently holds about 2 million XRP.
On Aug. 18, blockchain media outlet U.Today reported that Schwartz disclosed his holdings on X, formerly known as Twitter, after a user asked whether he had sold all his XRP.
“I think I'm down from about 26 million at my peak to about 2 million now,” Schwartz said. That is a drop of about 92 percent from his peak.
The 2 million XRP figure appears to be an estimate rather than an exact balance. Schwartz did not disclose the specific route or timing of the decline, making it difficult to conclude that the entire reduction was sold on the market. The remarks confirm that he has not disposed of all his XRP.
Schwartz’s past sale of Ethereum also drew renewed attention. He has repeatedly mentioned buying 40,000 ether at $0.311 each and then selling them for a total of $42,000. He said he made a profit at the time but later looked back on it as a disappointing decision after Ethereum prices surged.
Schwartz said he used the proceeds to buy solar panels to install at his home in Oakland, California. He also said that after later selling the home, his regret over selling Ethereum early grew even stronger.
He has also spoken about selling early cryptocurrencies at low prices. Schwartz has said he regrets selling some XRP at around $0.10 and some Ethereum at around $1. He said those decisions largely stemmed from a tendency to reduce risk, adding, “It would have been better if I hadn't done that.”
Schwartz has reduced a significant amount of cryptocurrencies he held from early on, but the latest remarks alone make it difficult to judge his current investment outlook for XRP or any future sales plans. What has been confirmed is that his XRP holdings, once about 26 million, have fallen to about 2 million, while the method and timing of disposal remain undisclosed.
The remarks can also be seen as an example of how much early cryptocurrency holders reduced their assets as prices rose sharply. As Schwartz has directly mentioned selling XRP and Ethereum relatively early, attention is expected to focus on how the remaining 2 million XRP will be managed going forward.
