Binance will delist 8 USDC-based margin trading pairs on Aug. 21, local time, blockchain media outlet U.Today reported.

The move applies to certain cross-margin and isolated-margin trading pairs, and users need to close positions and move assets before the end. The 8 pairs to be removed from cross margin are AUCTION/USDC, BEAMX/USDC, CETUS/USDC, HUMA/USDC, LAYER/USDC, NXPC/USDC, UMA/USDC and VELODROME/USDC. Of these, 3 pairs - HUMA/USDC, LAYER/USDC and NXPC/USDC - will also be removed from isolated margin.

Binance said it will end these margin trading pairs at 0600 UTC on Aug. 21. At the cutoff, it will close user positions and conduct automatic settlement, and it will cancel all pending orders. The pairs will then be removed from Binance's margin service.

Binance has also blocked, with immediate effect, transfers of the assets in those pairs to isolated-margin accounts through manual or automatic transfers. With new asset transfers to isolated-margin accounts restricted, the range of options for users seeking to maintain the related pairs has narrowed.

Limits on isolated-margin borrowing will begin in stages. Binance will halt isolated-margin borrowing for HUMA/USDC, LAYER/USDC and NXPC/USDC from 0600 UTC on Aug. 18. It will then proceed to the final termination process on Aug. 21.

Users cannot modify positions during the delisting process. Binance said the process could take about 3 hours. It advised users to close positions in advance before trading ends, or move assets in margin accounts to spot accounts to avoid potential losses.

The notice also included a separate network maintenance schedule. Binance will carry out wallet maintenance for BNB Smart Chain (BEP20) from 0600 UTC on Aug. 20. To support this, it will temporarily suspend deposits and withdrawals on the network from 0555 UTC on Aug. 20.

The wallet check is expected to last about 1 hour, but Binance said token trading on the network itself will not be affected. Only deposits and withdrawals will stop temporarily and trading will continue.

The measures combine a clean-up of certain USDC margin trading pairs and operational checks for BNB Smart Chain in the same week. Holders of the relevant pairs and BNB Smart Chain users therefore need to review their accounts and positions in line with the sequence of the Aug. 18 borrowing halt, the Aug. 20 deposit and withdrawal suspension and the Aug. 21 trading end.
