Norway's sovereign wealth fund, the world's largest, posts a record first-half profit this year of more than $182 billion, or about 257.62 trillion won.

CNBC reported on Tuesday local time that the fund posted a first-half return of 9.4 percent. Strong Asian technology stocks lifted the return. The same report disclosed for the first time a 0.05 percent stake in SpaceX.

The newly disclosed SpaceX stake is worth just over $1.2 billion, or about 1.7 trillion won. It is the first time Norway's sovereign wealth fund has disclosed investment exposure to Elon Musk's space technology company. Its weight in total assets is not large. As of June 30, the value of its 1.3 percent stake in Nvidia was $61.8 billion, or about 87.5 trillion won, and its 1.2 percent stake in Apple was $52.7 billion, or about 74.6 trillion won.

Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM), which manages the fund, cited strength in equity markets as the backdrop to the results. Nicolai Tangen (니콜라이 탕엔), chief executive of NBIM, said in a statement: "This result was driven by good returns in equity markets, and Asian technology stocks in particular stood out."

In its portfolio, equities account for more than two-thirds of the total. He said it also invests in bonds, real estate and renewable energy infrastructure.

The fund's total assets under management are now about $2.34 trillion, or about 3,300 trillion won. The fund was created in the 1990s to invest revenue from Norway's oil and gas industry. It currently invests in more than 7,000 companies in more than 50 countries and holds about 1.5 percent of the world's listed shares.

U.S. equities also account for a large share. About 40 percent of the total portfolio is made up of U.S. stocks, and its most valuable holdings are Nvidia, Apple and Microsoft (MS).
