Inox Advanced Materials, a maker of high-performance advanced materials, said on Sunday it is supplying SpaceX with high-performance aerospace materials for a third straight year.

Inox Advanced Materials supplies EMI Carrier Tape, based on polymer synthesis and precision coating technology, to major global semiconductor customers. EMI carrier tape is one of the core materials used in semiconductor electromagnetic shielding processes. It protects the bottom of a semiconductor package when EMI sputtering is performed after package molding.

Founded in 2002, SpaceX is leading the global space industry in areas including the low-Earth-orbit satellite network Starlink and private space transportation by reducing launch costs with rocket reusability technology. The company emphasised that SpaceX has used the material in rockets and satellites since 2023, recognising its technical competitiveness.

Aerospace semiconductors must operate reliably under extreme conditions such as severe temperature fluctuations and high-radiation environments. They require a high level of electromagnetic interference shielding performance.

A company official said Inox Advanced Materials' EMI carrier tape can maintain stable performance even in high-temperature environments generated during launches and space operations, based on strong heat resistance and chemical resistance.

Inox Advanced Materials plans to strengthen its leadership in advanced semiconductor materials markets including aerospace and AI. It aims to accelerate its move to become a global advanced materials solutions provider that responds proactively to global customer needs. A company official said it will expand the application scope of its semiconductor materials technologies to include materials for glass substrates, a core material for next-generation packaging, as well as HBM and ASIC for AI semiconductors.
