Shinhan Investment & Securities is expanding policies to reduce fees and financial costs borne by customers in individual retirement pension accounts (IRP), online funds and loans secured by securities sold, among other products.

Shinhan Investment & Securities said on Wednesday it is operating a "customer investment burden reduction" policy that includes free IRP asset and management fees, a waiver of upfront sales fees for online-only light funds and lower rates on loans secured by securities sold.

Since April 2024, Shinhan Investment & Securities has applied a full waiver of asset management and management fees for IRP customers. It exempts fees regardless of the sign-up channel or the size of contributed funds.

It is also expanding cost reductions for general investors.

Online-only light funds are structured so customers can sign up without upfront sales fees, and it will also lower rates on loans secured by securities sold. Shinhan Investment & Securities plans to cut the relevant rate to a single annual 6.95 percent from Aug. 20.

A loan secured by securities sold is a product that provides short-term liquidity to investors who need funds after selling shares and before settlement proceeds are deposited.

A Shinhan Investment & Securities official said the company aims to continuously improve investment fees and financial costs to support customers' long-term asset building.
