Shinhan Financial Group said on Jan. 11 it held its 2026 management strategy meeting from Jan. 8 to 10 at Shinhan Bank’s Blue Campus in Yongin, Gyeonggi province, with 250 executives attending. The meeting was held under the theme, "A bold narrative for the future Shinhan." The schedule was extended by 1 day from previous years, and discussions continued over 3 days and 2 nights to strengthen innovation and execution.

The meeting began with an external expert’s lecture, "The future of finance that will certainly arrive." It was a session to share the crises and challenges Shinhan faces. Participants then shared failure cases and analyzed the causes based on "my own fake innovation report" they had prepared as a pre-meeting assignment. A special lecture on writing and image-making was also held under the theme of a leader’s character, speech, appearance and judgment.

It began with all participants drafting a mandalart. The company said it was time to consider what to prepare and how to act as leaders. In the afternoon, an open-ended debate was held under the theme, "Our company, truly innovate." Chief executives of group affiliates also took part directly and formed a consensus on innovation tasks to be pursued without fail this year.

On the final day, a true innovation competition was held. Each group affiliate presented the innovation tasks it had derived and discussed execution plans. Chairman Jin presided over the meeting himself for 3 days and 2 nights without a separate moderator. He made special efforts, from designing the theme since August last year to selecting discussion formats and lecturers.

Jin stressed that leaders should have independent thinking and a sense of responsibility for driving innovation. It was a call for corporate leaders to demonstrate strong execution for the organisation’s future, on the premise of fulfilling their duties as corporate citizens. Jin previously raised the duties of financial professionals as a key topic through "Cicero’s On Duties" at a management forum in January last year.

Shinhan Financial announced the group’s 2026 management slogan, "Great Challenge 2030, bold execution toward future finance," in its New Year message on Jan. 2. It presented accelerating AX and DX, strengthening productive finance execution, protecting financial consumers and leading future strategic industries as key tasks to push this year.

Chairman Jin said, "I hope you will become the spark of innovation and raise Shinhan’s future competitiveness." He added, "Let us fulfill our duties as leaders so that the Shinhan community can be sustainable."
