Alex Svanevik (알렉스 스바네비크), CEO of on-chain data analytics firm Nansen, said he expects AI trading agents to surpass human traders in about two years and is reshaping the company accordingly.

According to a recent report by The Block, Svanevik appeared on The Block's “The Starting Block” show and said Nansen has shifted its business from providing data to supporting users so they can execute trades themselves. Since the feature launched, trading volume has risen to just over $500 million.

He said on the programme he would be very surprised if trading agents do not outnumber humans within two years.

He summarised his product vision as trading all assets on-chain via agents. He explained that doing so requires three shifts at the same time: from analytics to execution, from crypto-only to all asset classes, and from humans selecting tokens to agents selecting them.

Svanevik cited not only speed but also behaviour as reasons he expects agents to lead trading. He said individual traders tend to move in herds and jump into the same trades, while agents use a wider range of inputs, models and tools, giving them more diversity.

Flexibility has its bright and dark sides. He stressed that because agents operate through reasoning rather than fixed rules, inputs can be contaminated or manipulated to steer behaviour, and that this risk must be eliminated before launching products.
