The National Information Society Agency (NIA) and the Ministry of Science and ICT said on Feb. 26 they held a joint briefing on the 2026 artificial intelligence (AI) network on Feb. 25 at NIA's Seoul office in Jung-gu, Seoul.

The briefing was jointly hosted by NIA and the domestic AI network consultative body AI Network Alliance (AINA). The event introduced the objectives and implementation plans for six key AI network projects, application schedules and future plans for operating AINA.

The briefing presented, in sequence, projects to build a high-performance AI (Hyper-AI) network foundation, strengthen K-AI network competitiveness, build an Open RAN and AI-RAN test complex, expand bus Wi-Fi, build and operate KOREN, and build and operate a 5G-A testbed.

NIA and the ministry plan to use the AI network projects to build an ultra-intelligent network to respond to the AI era and strengthen competitiveness in the 6G and AI network industry.
