ITCEN PNS said on July 30 it obtained Korea Cryptographic Module Validation Program (KCMVP) certification for its EdgeCrypto v4.2 cryptographic module after applying a post-quantum cryptography (PQC)-based hybrid cryptography method.
EdgeCrypto combines classic cryptographic algorithms widely used in existing systems with U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standard PQC algorithms. It provides a cryptographic transition option that considers both current security and safety in a future quantum-computing environment.
ITCEN PNS plans to use EdgeCrypto to help customers gradually transition to a PQC-based cryptographic system while maintaining compatibility with existing security infrastructure. It also aims to expand PQC transition projects for public-sector, financial and corporate clients by linking the module with certificate lifecycle management (CLM), cryptographic asset identification, key management, network security and security consulting.
Park Won-kyu (박원규), CEO of ITCEN PNS, said the shift to PQC is not simply about adopting new algorithms, but also requires consideration of compatibility with existing cryptographic systems, operational stability and a transition of certification systems. He said EdgeCrypto supports hybrid digital signature and key establishment services that combine classic cryptography and PQC in a KCMVP validation environment, helping customers pursue a stable transition to PQC.
