Tether signed a memorandum of understanding with the Nairobi Securities Exchange to jointly review tokenised securities, blockchain-based market infrastructure and possible use of USDT payments.

Cointelegraph reported on July 29 that the two sides will also examine whether USDT can be used as a layer of digital payment infrastructure within Kenya’s regulatory framework.

The memorandum focuses on blockchain-based market infrastructure, digital asset education and reviewing real-world asset tokenisation. Tether plans to use its tokenisation platform Hadron to review ways to issue and trade tokenised securities.

The two sides also agreed to assess an instant settlement mechanism along with the structure for issuing and trading tokenised securities. Use of USDT will be reviewed only if allowed under Kenya’s regulations.
