Ecopro HN said on July 27 it signed a contract with Samsung E&A to supply a centralized greenhouse gas reduction system (RCS). The contract is worth 33 billion won. The supplied equipment will be deployed at a domestic semiconductor company.

RCS is a large-capacity reduction system that treats perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) generated in semiconductor processes. PFCs have a global warming potential thousands to tens of thousands of times higher than carbon dioxide, making them a key target of environmental regulation at semiconductor manufacturing sites. Ecopro HN decomposes PFCs at about 750 to 800 degrees Celsius using catalyst-based technology. Compared with conventional thermal decomposition that requires 1,300 to 1,400 degrees Celsius, it can cut energy use by about 95 percent.

The company plans to diversify its customer base to overseas semiconductor companies, including in North America, in line with domestic semiconductor companies' expanding investment in global production bases.

An Ecopro HN official said, "This order is the result of reaffirming our unrivaled greenhouse gas reduction technology and equipment reliability." The official added, "We will continue to diversify our customer base into the domestic and global semiconductor markets based on differentiated technology."
