AI-driven declines in traffic coming from Google Search, dubbed "Google Zero", have emerged as a key issue for the web ecosystem.
The Verge reported on July 24 that Google’s long-standing model of collecting and indexing web pages and sending large amounts of traffic to websites is entering a phase that is difficult to sustain.
The Vergecast said the web ecosystem must now cope in earnest with the situation after Google traffic has dried up.
The hosts, discussing this week’s "Google Zero" trend, said Reddit is showing interest in ways to pull out of AI training deals. They added that some publishers are even considering blocking Google from crawling their sites altogether.
An assessment also emerged that Google’s search business is under pressure because of AI. The hosts said it is difficult for anyone to be certain about what will happen next.
