TelePIX, a space AI integrated solutions company, said on July 23 it signed an export contract with U.S. space company Antaris Space for an AI satellite payload system.
Antaris supports everything from satellite and space-system design to simulation, manufacturing and operations through its AI-based platform Antaris Intelligence.
The company said the TelePIX product to be supplied to Antaris is a next-generation satellite payload integrating an electro-optical camera for a microsatellite with 4.8-metre-class resolution and a GPU-based onboard AI system. It can process and analyse images in real time on the satellite, helping to improve data usability and operational efficiency.
The two companies plan to expand the scope of cooperation. They are also in talks to supply a 0.5-metre-class ultra-high-resolution electro-optical camera for medium-sized satellites, which TelePIX has exported to Europe. The TelePIX AI satellite payload is planned to be installed on Antaris' JANUS-2 satellite, which is scheduled for launch in early next year. TelePIX also plans to use the JANUS-2 mission to conduct in-orbit performance verification of its self-developed onboard Vision Language Model, or VLM.
TelePIX CEO Seong-ik Cho (조성익) said it was "an important turning point" showing the possibility that a South Korean space startup can be recognised as a system supplier in advanced global space markets. He said the company would continue to expand exports in advanced space markets such as the United States and Europe based on in-orbit operational results accumulated through Bluebon and its vertically integrated satellite-system technological capabilities.
