KakaoBank's labour union will launch a full-scale strike for a day on July 31 after wage negotiations broke down.

Seo Seung-wook (서승욱), head of the Kakao branch of the Korean Federation of Chemical, Textile, Food Industries Trade Union under the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, said this at a picket protest held on July 21 at Kakao's Agit in Pangyo, Seongnam, Gyeonggi province.

"KakaoBank has decided to carry out an all-day strike on July 31," Seo said. "The company did not actively engage in negotiations, and differences between labour and management were not narrowed," he said.

The Gyeonggi Labour Relations Commission decided to suspend mediation after judging that additional mediation would be difficult.
