Adobe has added an AI-powered "Quick Cut" feature to its Firefly video editing tool, TechCrunch reported on Tuesday.
Users can describe the video they want in natural language, and the AI automatically edits it to generate a draft.
The company said users previously had to manually align video and B-roll and set transitions. With Quick Cut, they can remove unnecessary parts and quickly get a naturally edited draft. Users can specify aspect ratio, transition speed and additional B-roll through a prompt box in Firefly. They can apply it to an entire project or only to specific clips.
Adobe stressed that Quick Cut is a tool that provides drafts, not final edits. Users must make detailed adjustments and transition work based on the AI-generated draft. Mike Polgner, Adobe's product lead for AI and next-generation video tools, said, "What creators and marketers need most is speed." He said, "Quick Cut is a tool that reduces repetitive tasks in video editing and helps creators focus on their core creativity."
Adobe has been continually upgrading its video editing tools by recently adding a timeline-based video editor and prompt-based editing features.
