Hanyang University’s startup support group said it visited CES 2026, the world’s largest IT and electronics exhibition, held in Las Vegas from Jan. 6 to 9, and ran an on-site exploration program with 3 teams that won prizes in the university’s venture startup competition.
The visit was planned as part of a global startup development program to help leading student startup teams check global technology trends firsthand and explore the possibility of entering overseas markets.
Participating students reviewed the technologies and business models of global companies and promising startups, focusing on key CES 2026 exhibition areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), smart mobility, healthcare, robotics and sustainable technology. Through product demonstrations and startup pitching sessions, they also experienced technology commercialisation strategies and global investment trends.
Student Kim Yeo-myeong, from the grand prize-winning team in the venture startup competition, said it was impressive to see idea-stage campus technology implemented as products aimed at the global market. Student Kim Do-hyun said exchanges with overseas founders made him realise the importance of storytelling and branding as well as technological competitiveness.
Ryu Chang-wan, head of the university’s startup support group, said the CES on-site exploration offers student founders a practical learning opportunity. He said the university will also expand links between attending overseas exhibitions and global accelerating programs. Hanyang University operated an exhibition space made up of 12 booths at the Venetian Expo, showcasing AI, robotics and secondary battery technologies.
