News has emerged that Apple’s foldable iPhone, the "iPhone Ultra", is moving toward a September unveiling and launch without delays.
NineToFiveMac reported on Tuesday, citing a recent source in China, that the iPhone Ultra production schedule is proceeding as planned. The source repeatedly denied talk of production delays.
The key point in the latest report is that earlier talk of a long delay is losing force. The market had previously suggested the iPhone Ultra launch could be significantly pushed back into early next year. But a recent report by Chailian said that even if the actual sales timing of the premium model slips, the delay is unlikely to be large.
A separate account citing Chinese suppliers also found no sign of schedule disruptions. Sources said they had not heard talk of a delayed launch and that September delivery would not be a problem. Work related to the foldable iPhone is also said to be proceeding on schedule for a September launch.
The launch schedule and initial supply conditions remain separate issues. Even if the iPhone Ultra reaches the market in September as planned, early volumes could be limited. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said initial supply may not keep pace with early demand, and delivery waits could lengthen to 4 to 6 weeks, or longer.
That trend also ties into how quickly Apple’s first foldable iPhone will draw demand. With the new product expected to carry a high price, the balance between demand and supply right after launch could shape early sales momentum.
Based on supply chain signals so far, Apple appears to be continuing preparations without major disruption in schedule management. Unlike earlier postponement talk into next year, only the possibility of a short delay has been mentioned recently. As a result, market attention is shifting from the iPhone Ultra’s unveiling date to actual availability and delivery wait times immediately after its debut.
The latest supply chain signals show the need to separate the launch schedule from initial supply. Apple is maintaining a September launch target, but actual market response may hinge on its ability to secure early volumes.
