[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] AI data security company Cyera has been valued at $9 billion after closing a $400 million Series F funding round, SiliconANGLE reported on Jan. 8 local time.

The round drew investors including Blackstone, Accel, Coatue, Cyberstarts, Georgian, Greenoaks, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Redpoint, Sapphire, Sequoia Capital and Spark.

Cyera raised $540 million in June last year at a valuation of $6 billion.

SiliconANGLE said companies are facing security issues as AI adoption accelerates. It said the risk of new security threats is growing as AI agents collect and use data.

Prevent AI hacking... A rush of 'AI-first' security startups

Cyera has built a platform that integrates data security posture management, data loss prevention and identity management. It is targeting industries including finance, retail, media and healthcare after launching its AI security product, AI Guardian. Currently, 20 percent of Fortune 500 companies have adopted Cyera's security solution.

Cyera plans to use the funding to expand its data access platform and strengthen employee safety, trusted AI agents, ecosystem control and AI defense technologies. "Security is no longer a cost but an accelerator," Cyera CEO Yotam Segev said. He said chief information security officers will be at the center of transformation leading the AI era.
