Smilegate said on Tuesday it took part in North America’s largest subculture event, “2026 Anime Expo (AX),” and completed booth operations for its new titles “Miraesee: The Invisible Future” (Miraesee) and “Chaos Zero Nightmare” (Kazena).
This year’s event was held in Los Angeles from July 2 to 5 local time. Smilegate set up a first demo area in North America for Miraesee, where average queues lasted 3 hours during the event.
Miraesee’s stage programme featured a dev talk in which the development team introduced the world setting, characters and combat system. It also included a live drawing show with art director Kim Hyung-seop (김형섭), and illustrators Reiqu, Karori and Luka from Korea and overseas. On July 4, Kim and Reiqu held an additional drawing show and took part in a real-time question-and-answer session.
At the Kazena booth, Smilegate ran a collecting event in which visitors gathered physical goods versions of cards, a core part of the game’s combat system. It held a raffle for a 24K gold card among users who collected all 15 card types, and most related products sold at the on-site goods shop AmiAmi booth sold out. An on-site signing event was also held with producer Kim Hyung-seok (김형석), art director So Su-bin (소수빈) and art director Ryu Han-kyung (류한경).
At a panel session held on July 3, Kim shared the development philosophy for 2D animation games and revealed information on a new season Kazena is preparing for the first time globally.
Innoju, Smilegate’s marketing director, said the company was able to confirm North American users’ high interest in 2D animation games and culture. He said this was Smilegate’s first time taking part in AX, and he hoped it would help Kazena gain more local fans and serve as an opportunity for Miraesee to successfully establish itself in the North American market in the future.
