[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang (황치규)] Amazon Web Services, or AWS, said on July 7 it will launch a feature that lets AI agents access and run desktop applications through Amazon WorkSpaces Applications.
The agents can access desktop applications and perform tasks through a managed WorkSpaces environment.
The agents connect to a streaming session and interact with desktop applications through a managed Model Context Protocol, or MCP, service endpoint. The agents are authenticated through AWS Identity and Access Management, or IAM. All activity is logged in AWS CloudTrail and Amazon CloudWatch for auditing and tracking.
AWS said the agents connect to existing WorkSpaces environments, so there is no need to build separate APIs, migrate applications or add infrastructure to apply agents to desktop applications already in operation.
