The Broadcasting Media Communication Commission is openly recruiting broadcast video works produced directly by members of the public.
The commission and the Viewer Media Foundation said on Thursday they will begin accepting entries for the “2026 Viewer Media Awards Broadcast Video Contest” from July 6. The contest marks its 12th edition this year and is open to anyone. The submission period runs from July 6 to Sept. 7.
The contest is divided into the “Works Prize,” which selects creative works made by viewers, and the “Special Prize,” which recognises individuals and groups that contributed to promoting viewer participation in broadcasting.
The Works Prize consists of three categories: “New Video” that has not been aired on TV and has no award history; “Viewer Broadcast Video” that has been aired on viewer participation programmes but has no award history; and “Audio Works” with no award history. From this year, works using AI technology may also be submitted to reflect changes in the media production environment. Entries using generative AI must also include a “Description of Generative AI Use” form included in the submission guidelines.
The Special Prize is for individuals or groups that contributed to promoting participation in broadcasting. Eligible genres are not limited and include drama, documentary, animation and interviews.
Awards will be presented in late November. The organisers plan to select 16 winners in total, including 14 Works Prizes and 2 Special Prizes. Details on the contest are available on the Viewer Media Foundation website.
The commission said it hopes many creative works made by viewers will be discovered and shared with the public. It said it will continue support to improve viewers’ content production capabilities and encourage participation in broadcasting.
