KT launched a unified mobile plan on Tuesday that combines its pricing system previously split between 5G and LTE.

KT integrated its 5G and LTE plans and simplified more than 100 existing plans into 18. It expanded data allowances and introduced a “bonus” structure that automatically applies benefits by age.

The unified plan consists of 2 lines: “Choice”, based on fully unlimited data, and “Basic”, centered on data usage.

The Choice plans strengthened shared data and add-on benefits for customers who use a lot of content and smart devices. Choice110 provides 80GB of shared data, while Choice90 provides 60GB. Choice130 expanded the smart-device plan discount to up to 2 lines.

Customers can choose add-on benefits such as over-the-top video services, device insurance and device discounts. Choice Double provides Disney+ Standard and a device insurance discount together.

The Basic plans removed limits on shared data that had applied to some products, allowing customers to share their data with smart devices and other devices.

All plans apply a data-safety option (QoS) that lets users keep using data at a set speed after they use up their base data.

The Basic110GB plan offers speeds of up to 5 Mbps after data is used up. Basic plans of 14GB or more offer up to 1 Mbps. Plans of 10GB or less apply up to 400 Kbps.

KT will also automatically provide age-based data benefits without a separate application. It applies “Y Bonus” that doubles data for young customers, “School Bonus” for children, and “65+ Bonus” and “75+ Bonus” for senior customers.

A customer in their 20s using the Basic30GB plan, priced at 61,000 won a month, can use 60GB a month through Y Bonus. After using all base data, the customer can continue using data at speeds of up to 1 Mbps.

For customers aged 65 and older using the Basic10GB plan, priced at 50,000 won a month, KT provides up to 15GB. For customers aged 75 and older, it provides up to 20GB.

KT expanded benefits for military service members. It applies Y Bonus during the period of service and provides an additional 2GB a day to users of plans costing 45,000 won or more a month. After the extra data is used up, users can continue at speeds of up to 3 Mbps, and KT also provides a 20 percent discount on the monthly fee.

KT will stop taking new subscriptions for existing 5G and LTE plans from July 1 following the launch of the unified plan. Existing subscribers can keep their current plans.

Young-geol Kim (김영걸), executive vice president and head of KT's Customer Business Division, said the unified plan was designed to simplify customer choices and make benefits feel larger. He said KT will continue to expand benefits tailored to customers' usage patterns and life cycle.
