Naver will expand its reach into Hyundai Motor Group vehicles as an in-car digital platform. Naver said on Thursday it will provide the Naver app, Naver Map and the Whale browser for Hyundai Motor Group's next-generation infotainment system, Pleos Connect.
At the 2026 Busan Mobility Show on Thursday, Hyundai unveiled The New Grandeur and The All New Avante equipped with Pleos Connect. Starting with The New Grandeur, the two companies plan to gradually expand the application of Naver services to models equipped with Pleos Connect, including The All New Avante scheduled to be launched within the year.
The vehicle-optimised Naver Auto app analyses a driver's schedule, interests and current location to provide personalised information. It includes a Today Briefing feature that summarises the day's weather, top news and upcoming appointments. When it is nearly time to head to a reserved location, it automatically connects to Naver Map navigation.
Naver Map is designed to allow direct access to driving information without separate connections such as CarPlay. On the main screen, users can check the expected destination, nearby gas stations and driving score at a glance. If fuel or battery levels are low, it automatically recommends nearby gas stations or electric vehicle charging stations, and during commuting hours it prioritises routes to home and work.
The Whale browser provides web-based content browsing tailored to the vehicle environment. It supports light and dark modes that automatically switch depending on ambient brightness.
Naver CEO Soo-yeon Choi (최수연) said, "As vehicles are moving beyond simple means of transport and naturally connecting users' daily lives and digital experiences to become platforms that create new value, we plan to expand our partnership with Hyundai Motor Group based on Naver's broad service know-how and technological capabilities."
