Google has added a feature to Google Classroom that generates Gemini-based audio lessons, TechCrunch reported on Jan. 7.

Teachers can use the Gemini tab in Classroom to set grade level, topic and learning goals. They can also choose a dialogue style, such as an interview, debate or casual conversation, to create customised audio lessons. The feature is available to Google Workspace for Education Fundamental, Standard and Plus subscribers.

As podcast listening among students increases, learning that uses it is drawing attention in education settings. Google expects AI-based lessons to promote students' self-directed learning, but teachers also have concerns about using generative AI tools, TechCrunch reported.

Google recommended thoroughly reviewing AI-generated content and revising it to fit the classroom environment and policies.
