Energy solutions company Otek Carrier is accelerating the rollout of eco-friendly energy solutions built around its in-house heat pump, EHS (Eco Heatpump Solution), this year across agriculture, buildings and public facilities as it prepares for the energy transition era.

EHS is a high-efficiency heat pump system that integrates heating and cooling, hot water supply, and temperature and humidity control. It delivers efficiency of more than 3 times the energy used, or COP, helping cut operating costs and reduce carbon emissions. It can be applied in agriculture sites that require precise growth environment control depending on crop characteristics.

Otek Carrier said it supplied EHS to a European lettuce smart farm in Buan, North Jeolla Province, last year. It said it is set to apply the system this year at various smart farm sites including strawberry farms.

The company said Otek Carrier's EHS will also be installed this year in education and welfare facilities such as universities and nursing homes, as well as agriculture sites.

Otek Carrier is also moving to expand cooling solutions based on DLC (Direct Liquid Cooling) in response to these market changes. Through technical cooperation with global Carrier, it is building an integrated cooling solution spanning from the chiller plant to server racks, centered on the CDU (Coolant Distribution Unit), a key piece of equipment that directly recovers and distributes heat generated from server chips using liquid. It said this will support stable thermal management in high-heat, high-density AI server environments.

Otek Carrier plans to propose cooling methods suited to data center environments and stages by securing a portfolio of liquid cooling technologies, including cold-plate DLC and rear-door heat exchange (RDH), as well as existing air cooling solutions such as air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, CRAH, CRAC and FWU (Fan Wall Unit).

An Otek Carrier official said government policies to expand heat pump adoption and changes in the data center cooling paradigm would become a turning point that brings forward the energy transition across industry and society. The official said Otek Carrier will establish itself as a key partner that takes responsibility from design to operation with integrated energy solutions that meet both policy direction and technological competitiveness in heat pumps and data center cooling.
