CNBC reported on Nov. 28 that Chinese tech company Baidu is emerging as a key player in China’s AI chip market and is filling space left by Nvidia.

CNBC said Baidu is strengthening its semiconductor business through Kunlunxin and is likely to absorb China’s AI chip demand over the next several years.

Baidu recently announced a five‑year roadmap. It plans to roll out the M100 chip in 2026 and the M300 in 2027. Its data centres use both in‑house chips and Nvidia products. CNBC said Baidu is generating revenue by selling chips to third‑party data centres or providing cloud computing services.

Earlier this year, it was also selected as a supplier to China Mobile, the country’s largest mobile carrier.

JPMorgan forecast Baidu’s chip revenue will increase sixfold by 2026 to 8 billion yuan, or 1.1 billion dollars. Macquarie analysts assessed the value of the Kunlun chip business at about 28 billion dollars.
