Kang Tae-young (강태영), head of NH NongHyup Bank, discussed ways to expand global financial cooperation with the City of London. He aims to strengthen the bank's network in Europe, the Middle East and Africa based on its London branch opened last year, and widen overseas investment opportunities linked to Britain's infrastructure and alternative investment markets.
NH NongHyup Bank said on June 16 it met City of London Lord Mayor Susan Langley and British Ambassador to South Korea Colin Crooks at its headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, on June 15 to discuss expanding cooperation in the UK financial market and ways to strengthen its global business.
They discussed key agenda items including trends in the UK financial market, expanded cooperation between South Korean and British financial institutions, UK-South Korea joint investment cooperation with the City of London, the status of introducing digital assets and tokenisation, and the direction of development for the digital finance industry. They also covered ways to introduce agentic AI.
NH NongHyup Bank and the City of London agreed to strengthen financial networks in Europe, the Middle East and Africa based on the London branch. They also plan to actively seek investment opportunities linked to Britain's infrastructure and alternative investment markets.
Kang said, "Cooperation with London has important meaning for strengthening NongHyup Bank's competitiveness in global business." He added, "We will expand our push into the European market centred on the London branch and continue to strengthen our global investment and financial networks."
