Apple is seen as likely to ask Intel to produce its M-series chips from 2027.

The Verge reported this on the 28th, citing a report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo said recent industry research shows Intel’s chances of becoming Apple’s latest node supplier have risen sharply in recent weeks.

Apple currently has a contract with Taiwan’s TSMC to supply silicon chips for iPhone, iPad and Mac products.

Kuo said Apple has signed a confidentiality agreement with Intel and agreed to secure Intel’s 18AP PDK 0.9.1GA chip.

Apple is waiting for the PDK 1.0 and 1.1 kits that Intel plans to provide in the first quarter of 2026. Kuo said that if all goes smoothly, Intel could begin shipping Apple’s lowest-priced M-series processors produced with its 18AP process in the second or third quarter of 2027.

The Verge said this could help Apple strengthen its relationship with the U.S. government and give Intel a long-term growth driver.
