[DigitalToday reporter Jinju Hong] Specialized has unveiled the Turbo Levo 4 X, a new product that combines cargo-carrying capability with a full-suspension electric mountain bike (e-MTB). The model, designed for both off-road riding and long-distance gear hauling, targets demand for “electric overlanding,” an emerging segment in the e-bike market.

On June 11 local time, EV outlet Electrek reported that the Turbo Levo 4 X is based on the high-performance Turbo Levo 4 and integrates front and rear cargo racks. The design goes beyond simply adding a rack, incorporating considerations for carrying camping gear, filming equipment and supplies for long-distance travel.

Specialized introduced the product as an “electric overlanding” concept. It said it was designed to support multi-day, long-distance outdoor activity while maintaining off-road performance.

Power performance remains on par with existing top-tier electric mountain bikes. The Turbo Levo 4 X is fitted with Specialized’s S-Works 3.1 mid-drive motor. It delivers a maximum output of 850W and peak torque of 111Nm. The battery capacity is 840Wh, and the company said it can run for up to 4.4 hours depending on terrain conditions and assist-mode settings.

The bike is built around a FACT 11m carbon frame. An integrated storage compartment is built into the frame, and it also offers a function to adjust geometry to match riding style.

The suspension setup combines a 160mm Fox 38 Factory fork up front with a 150mm Fox Float X Factory rear shock. Specialized’s proprietary GENIE shock technology is also applied to enhance performance on rough terrain.

The component spec also adopts top-end parts. It applies SRAM’s XX Eagle T-Type AXS wireless shifting system and SRAM Maven Ultimate four-piston brakes, along with large brake rotors of 220mm at the front and 200mm at the rear, and carbon Roval Traverse wheels.

The biggest point of differentiation is cargo capacity. Specialized included front and rear cargo racks as standard and put carrying capability at the core of the bike’s design. While typical electric mountain bikes focus on riding performance, the Turbo Levo 4 X proposes a new use case that spans long-distance exploration, camping and gear-hauling demand.

Connectivity features have also been strengthened. It applies the MasterMind TCU with a 2.2-inch display and supports changing settings through a smartphone app. It also integrates with Apple’s Find My feature and comes with a 12A smart charger as standard. The charger supports a fast-charging mode and an 80 percent charge-hold mode designed to protect battery life.

Weight is about 27.25 kg. It is heavier than general mountain bikes, but the company said that reflects the inclusion of a high-capacity battery, a full-suspension system and cargo equipment.

The price is set at $11,999. Specialized plans to target premium consumers seeking both off-road performance and long-distance cargo-carrying capability with the new product.

In the industry, attention is focused on market reaction to the Turbo Levo 4 X as electric mountain bikes evolve beyond simple leisure transport into multipurpose platforms that support camping, exploration and gear hauling.
