[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] Electrification and automation company ABB said on Thursday it will introduce an integrated solution linking Samsung Electronics' enterprise Internet of Things (IoT) platform SmartThings Pro with its building automation solution ABB Ability BuildingPro.
ABB said the integration allows building owners and operators to access building data, insights and control functions in a more connected environment.
The collaboration is an extension of a strategic partnership the two companies signed in April 2022. At the time, they agreed to work together to jointly develop technology to link ABB's residential and commercial building automation solution ABB-free@home with Samsung SmartThings.
The integrated solution supports managing a range of building operations data in a single environment. It allows building owners and managers to check operating status and performance in a familiar digital environment, monitor key data in real time and use control functions across operations more flexibly.
Mike Mustapha (마이크 무스타파), president of ABB's Electrification Smart Buildings division, said building owners need reliable data and easy-to-manage tools to manage increasingly complex building portfolios more efficiently. He said linking ABB Ability BuildingPro with Samsung SmartThings Pro will support managers in making decisions based on more accurate information.
