South Korea's National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy Committee said on June 11 that its AI Democracy subcommittee will join as a panelist at the "2026 Korean Party Academic Society Special Academic Conference: AI and Democracy" on June 12 at Cheon Shin-il Hall in Korea University's Jeonggyeong Hall.
Subcommittee members, including chair Kim Eui-young (김의영), will present on a roadmap to derive visions and strategies for K-democracy in the AI era, conceptual discussions on AI democracy in South Korea, and developing a K-AI democracy evaluation index and its global standardisation. In a subsequent discussion, experts from academia and research institutions are expected to discuss the core values and policy direction of AI democracy and ways to build democratic governance.
Kim said, "Using this academic conference as a turning point, we will begin social discussions on democracy in the AI era and will continue to promote public discussion for the harmonious development of national AI policy and democratic values together with academia, civic groups and industry."
