[DigitalToday reporter Ji-young Lee (이지영)] K Bank is offering interest-rate benefits to customers managing short-term funds as demand for parking accounts rises due to an increase in investment standby funds.

K Bank said on June 11 it will run an event offering an annual 0.3 percentage point preferential-rate coupon to customers of its Plus Box parking account.

Customers can participate without additional conditions by selecting "Get an interest-rate coupon" on the event page in the K Bank app.

The amount tier eligible for the preferential rate is set differently depending on each customer’s Plus Box balance as of June 10, the day before the event begins. For example, customers with a June 10 balance of more than 10 million won and up to 30 million won can receive the preferential rate for the tier of more than 30 million won and up to 60 million won.

Customers who do not have Plus Box or have no balance can also receive the preferential rate up to the tier of 10 million won or less if they open a new account. Each customer can check the applicable tier on the Plus Box screen after the preferential rate is applied.

Plus Box is K Bank’s parking account in which interest accrues even if funds are deposited for just one day. It can be used without a limit on the amount. The base interest rate is 1.7 percent per year for balances of 50 million won or less and 2.2 percent per year for amounts above 50 million won. Applying the preferential-rate coupon allows customers to receive up to 2.5 percent per year depending on the amount tier.

Plus Box can be opened up to 10 accounts per person, allowing funds to be managed by purpose. It also offers a "Right Away Interest" service that lets customers receive interest daily.

A K Bank official said customers would be able to manage standby funds more efficiently and that the bank will continue to introduce financial services tailored to the needs of deposit customers.
