[Digital Today reporter Ho-jung Lee] Smilegate has begun ramping up preparations by formally confirming a launch within the year for its new massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG).

Smilegate said on Tuesday it revamped the teaser page for its new MMORPG "Eclipse: The Awakening" (Eclipse), developed by Npixel and to be serviced by Smilegate, and released new video and images.

Eclipse is Smilegate's next core title that it is publishing and supports cross-platform play on PC and mobile. The company put the phrase "2026 COMING SOON" at the front of the revamped teaser page, signaling an official release this year.

A key feature of the game is to expand the conventions of existing genres to offer a new play experience. The company said it also added depth to strategic fun through "Sanctum," cited as a core content.

A key visual image unveiled with the revamp places an unknown character at the center, hinting at Eclipse's distinctive atmosphere and world view. A teaser video released at the same time raises questions about gameplay familiar to existing MMORPG fans, building anticipation for the differentiated experience unique to Eclipse.

Smilegate plans to gradually release detailed information about the game using various social channels, including the teaser page and its official YouTube channel.

Shin Jae-ik (신재익), a director at Smilegate, said, "Through this teaser page, we wanted to convey the direction and atmosphere of the game that Eclipse pursues." He added, "We plan to present Eclipse's differentiated appeal through various content to be released on social channels such as the teaser page and YouTube, and we ask for your interest."
