Korea Post will roll out a post office debit card-based local love voucher service in Bonghwa County in North Gyeongsang Province and Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province.

The Ministry of Science and ICT's Korea Post said on June 9 it will launch the Post Office Bonghwa Love Card on June 10, allowing Bonghwa County local love vouchers to be used with a post office debit card. It will launch Gokseong County's Post Office Gokseong Simcheong Voucher on June 24.

The Post Office Bonghwa Love Card and the Post Office Gokseong Simcheong Voucher allow debit card payments within the account balance even if the top-up amount is insufficient. They improve customer convenience and support local spending through cashback and discount benefits.

Local love vouchers can be topped up at post office counters in the relevant area, the post office savings website, the Post Office Smart Banking app and the integrated local love voucher platform app, chak. They can also be topped up at post office counters. The topped-up vouchers can be used like cash at affiliated merchants in the region.

With the launch, the post office debit card local love voucher service has expanded to a total of 43 local governments. Korea Post plans to use its nationwide post office financial infrastructure to support boosting local consumption and increasing sales for small business owners.

Korea Post chief Park In-hwan (박인환) said, "The post office debit card local love voucher is a financial service that supports the recovery of local commercial districts based on the nationwide post office network and public trust." He added, "We hope this launch in Bonghwa and Gokseong will lead to interest and participation from more local governments."
