OpenAI has added data leak prevention and login session management features to ChatGPT, SecurityWeek reported on June 8 (local time).
The Lockdown Mode feature is designed to prevent data leaks caused by prompt injection attacks, the report said. It is available on personal and self-serve business accounts.
Turning on Lockdown Mode disables or limits live web browsing, image support, Deep Research, agent mode, canvas networking and file downloads.
OpenAI said the feature is for users and organisations that handle sensitive data and is not recommended for all users.
The Active Sessions feature lets users check which devices are currently logged into an account and remotely log out of unfamiliar sessions. It is available across all ChatGPT account types. It does not support enterprise SSO (single sign-on) accounts.
Earlier, OpenAI also launched Advanced Account Security for users at high risk of hacking. It disables password login and forces users to log in only with physical security keys or passkeys. Account recovery is also possible only with backup passkeys and recovery keys instead of email or SMS.
