Musinsa is moving to secure a global touchpoint in the conversational AI commerce market. Musinsa said on Tuesday it has launched a dedicated app on OpenAI's conversational AI platform service, ChatGPT, and has begun the service in earnest.
Musinsa previously partnered with Kakao in March to introduce “ChatGPT for Kakao,” an AI style recommendation service inside KakaoTalk. With the direct listing on ChatGPT, it has expanded customer touchpoints beyond domestic messaging platforms to OpenAI’s broader global user ecosystem.
The service is Musinsa MCP (Model Context Protocol), an interface specialised in commerce discovery that Musinsa developed in-house. Even if users do not enter an exact brand or product name, they can receive product recommendations through context-focused questions about TPO, meaning time, place and occasion, weather and season, preferred price range, brand preferences and real purchase reviews. Clicking a recommended product takes users directly to Musinsa’s online store, leading to purchases.
In actual use, it suggests customised styling in response to questions that include weather and situational context, such as “Recommend a look that would be good to wear to work tomorrow” or “Show me outfits that would suit a Europe trip next month.” It also supports condition-based searches such as “shirts in the 30,000 won range” and “sunscreen that is popular on Musinsa Beauty,” as well as curation reflecting specific brand preferences.
A Musinsa official said the launch is part of a roadmap to shift existing “search-centred commerce” to “conversational fashion and beauty commerce,” and an attempt to expand its mobile AI touchpoints to the global stage. The official said Musinsa plans to broaden touchpoints with global users to drive traffic into the Musinsa store, while continuing investment in AI technology based on its in-house Musinsa MCP and focusing on building the easiest and smartest interface in customers’ fashion and beauty discovery journey.
