Neowiz is appointing its first chief executive with a developer background since its founding and focusing company-wide capabilities on delivering results from new titles.
Neowiz said on Sunday it has named Park Sung-jun (박성준), head of its New Title Development Group, as CEO-designate. The appointment makes Park the company’s first CEO drawn from a developer background since its founding.
Park will lead the company under a co-CEO structure with CEO Bae Tae-geun (배태근). He is expected to formally take office after approval by a regular board meeting in August.
Neowiz explained that it designated a developer as CEO to place expertise and execution from the development floor at the top of management priorities, in line with the timing of a full-scale start to its new-title pipeline.
Park served as a development director at Neowiz CRS in 2013 and later led the console development division at Neowiz Bless Studio. Since 2019, he has headed the ROUND8 studio. From 2023, he has also served concurrently as head of the New Title Development Group, overseeing Neowiz’s overall next-generation development lineup.
He is cited in particular as a key figure who led the global success of "Lies of P" and its downloadable content, "Lies of P: Overture". After taking office, he plans to continue concurrently as head of the New Title Development Group, closely linking development direction for major projects with management strategy.
Former CEO Kim Seung-cheol will remain a registered inside director and continue his role as a board member after stepping down as CEO.
Park, the CEO-designate, said, "With multiple projects now on the development track, Neowiz will be able to fully showcase the new-title pipeline it has prepared from 2027." He added, "We will place the fun that gamers want as the top value and, based on the experience and know-how accumulated in development, concentrate our capabilities on creating new-title results that can succeed in the global market."
