Mobile content app market OneStore is expanding its platform business by launching a direct-to-consumer (D2C) payment service.
OneStore said on June 8 it has launched the official service for its D2C payment service, One Webshop. It plans to step up efforts to realise its “all-in-one store” vision in which downloads, payments and play take place on a single platform.
About 20 major titles from developers in and outside South Korea will launch alongside the service, including Wemade Connect’s new subculture RPG “Make Drama: MAD”. Make Drama: MAD launched simultaneously on OneStore and One Webshop. Games of various genres from developers in and outside the country are currently in talks to be added.
One Webshop is a web-based D2C payment infrastructure provided directly by an app market operator. App distribution and web payments are implemented within a single platform. Developers can launch a webshop immediately by linking to the existing OneStore Developer Center, and can sell game items for an 8 percent fee including payment gateway charges.
Users can access the service through various channels, including in-game menus, the OneStore application, official communities, brand sites and event pages. It is available across Android, iOS and PC. Developers can design their own traffic funnels to run promotions, and users can expect product price benefits that reflect the impact of lower fees.
OneStore applied its experience in payments, settlements, customer support and developer support accumulated through operating its app market to One Webshop. OneStore handles the complexity of web payment operations, including settlements, customer service and tax management, providing an environment in which small and mid-sized developers that lack the capacity to build their own payment systems can start D2C sales and focus on producing content.
Park Tae-young (박태영), chief executive of OneStore, said, “The official launch of One Webshop is the first implementation of the all-in-one store vision that goes beyond downloads to include payments and play.” He said it was a starting point for app markets to evolve beyond simple distribution channels into partners that grow with developers, and that OneStore will continue to upgrade stable payment and marketing infrastructure so developers can focus more on content production and growth.
OneStore plans to keep expanding the One Webshop lineup in the second half of this year and strengthen marketing-linked programmes and operational support services for participating developers.
