NCSoft is unveiling the sequel to its flagship global intellectual property for the first time at a major game show as it moves to target the global multi-platform market.

NCSoft said on June 8 it unveiled 'Guild Wars 3' for the first time at the global game show Summer Game Fest (SGF) 2026.

Guild Wars is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) series developed by ArenaNet, NCSoft’s North American development studio. The newly revealed Guild Wars 3 is the first official numbered sequel since the launch of Guild Wars 2 in 2012.

The new title is set to be released globally via PC online, Steam and the PlayStation 5 platform. This is the first time a Guild Wars series title will launch on a console platform. NCSoft plans to conduct a beta test in the second half of 2027 and intends to include Korean among its service languages.

Colin Johanson (콜린 요한슨), studio head of ArenaNet and director of Guild Wars 3, said, "Guild Wars 3 will be a new turning point for the Guild Wars series as well as the MMORPG genre." He added, "Our goal is to provide a new game experience through an online world with realism, immersion and innovation, and to present a space where we can create new stories together with the user community, as MMORPG users around the world have been waiting."

Guild Wars 3 is set about 1,000 years before the original and unfolds in the Or region of Tyria, a vast frontier imbued with the world’s magic. Users set out on an adventure as a 'Veilwarden', a member of an adventurer guild that protects the land of Or, alongside wild spirits. They can explore a vivid world through a combat system optimized for console controllers and keyboards, and through the Guild Wars series’ character customization and progression systems.

Global users can add the game to their wishlists on Steam and the PlayStation Store. ArenaNet plans to gradually release additional information about Guild Wars 3 from the second half of this year through 2027.

The Guild Wars series, which has maintained a business model without subscription fees, has recorded a cumulative total of more than 29 million users to date.
