[Digital Today reporter Ho-jung Lee] Kakao's location-based life platform KakaoMap is working with Food Travel to implement an offline food event venue on a digital map.
Kakao said on Wednesday it will launch a dedicated service that maps the venue for Port Village Busan 2026, an urban food content event where Busan local food and beverage brands meet visitors.
The collaboration was designed to improve users' ease of navigation and support local brands and the ecosystem of small business owners participating in the event.
Users can search for Port Village Busan 2026 in the KakaoMap application through June 21 to view a dedicated map that includes the venue layout, booth locations and pop-up space information.
The event also introduces for the first time On-site Talk, a community feature for exchanging festival-related information and on-site experiences in real time. Visitors can freely share on-site information through the feature, such as wait times by booth and whether popular menu items are sold out.
It also enhanced search functions so users can check operating periods in search results and the favorites area. Users can easily find festival information using status and date filters, and the map also displays information on various festivals nationwide that are under way or scheduled.
A Kakao official said, "We worked to deliver more intuitive spatial information needed at festival venues," and added, "We plan to further advance the service so it can provide richer information, not only about offline spaces but also about experiences that can be felt on site."
