[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] Nvidia has acquired enterprise predictive AI software startup Kumo AI for more than $400 million, The Information reported on Tuesday.
The report said an Nvidia executive first disclosed the acquisition in a LinkedIn post.
The deal will allow Nvidia to expand its portfolio of AI models optimized for its hardware and broaden a base for companies to further customize its models.
Kumo AI has developed AI models that answer predictive questions based on structured enterprise data such as customer information and payment data. It specializes in structured data analysis that is difficult for general large language models to handle.
Kumo combined synthetic data with graph machine-learning technology developed by Stanford University founders to address the issue, The Information said.
Kumo released its latest model, KumoRFM-2, in April this year, and counts DoorDash, Reddit, Databricks and Snowflake as customers and partners.
It is still unclear how Nvidia will specifically use Kumo’s models. It may integrate them into its AI foundry software, or use Kumo researchers to develop new enterprise foundation models, The Information said.
