Business data platform company Cucon will take part in global discussions on standardising AI agents.
Cucon said on June 2 it joined the global agentic AI open-source foundation AAIF (Agentic AI Foundation) as a silver member on June 1.
AAIF is a global consortium under the Linux Foundation. More than 180 companies participate, including Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Circle, Tron and Stripe. It develops and manages open standards and protocols to improve interoperability among AI agents.
Cucon plans to use the membership to take part in working groups related to AI agent payments and AI-based data (MCP) businesses. It aims to secure competitiveness in next-generation payments and data infrastructure by discussing technical standards and business models with global companies.
AI agents have recently been evolving beyond product search and recommendations toward making purchase decisions and carrying out payments. As a result, payment operators are expanding their roles from simple payment processors to infrastructure providers that support AI agent transactions.
Cucon is also shifting its data business to fit AI-driven use structures. It operates a platform that connects data from about 500 institutions in South Korea and about 2,500 financial institutions in about 40 countries through about 300 APIs. It plans to upgrade the structure to an MCP-based system so AI can use data more efficiently.
Cucon plans to accelerate expansion of its global payments, stablecoin and AI-based data businesses based on its AAIF activities. It will raise global service compatibility by applying international standards to its own infrastructure, and strengthen global payments and AI data businesses it has named as key growth areas for this year.
Cucon CEO Kim Jong-hyun (김종현) said, "Joining AAIF is an important turning point for making a leap into full-scale global expansion together with the establishment of a Singapore subsidiary," adding, "We will strengthen competitiveness in payments and data technology that can respond to the era of AI agents through technology exchanges and cooperation with global companies."
