Naver Cloud is creating a dedicated organisation for its defence AI business.
The IT industry said on May 31 that Naver Cloud will launch a defence AI transformation (AX) task force on June 1. It is the first time Naver has formed a defence-focused AI organisation, and Naver Cloud CEO Kim Yu-won (김유원) will lead it.
The task force will operate by deploying forward-deployed engineers and directly designing and implementing customised AI solutions at defence sites. It is known to be structured around collaboration among AI model development, business development and marketing departments.
Naver Cloud plans to supply solutions tailored to defence environments, highlighting its in-house foundation model, cloud infrastructure and sovereign AI capabilities. It also plans to apply omni-modal AI technology that integrates text, image and voice to the defence sector.
The company said the defence sector has limits in relying on foreign AI models and infrastructure because it handles sensitive data such as military secrets. Naver Cloud plans to continue advancing defence-tailored solutions based on its core technologies.
