Samsung Electronics, which ranked No. 1 in global smartphone market share in the first quarter, also took the top spot in Latin America, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
Omdia said on May 26 that Samsung's first-quarter smartphone market share stood at 37 percent in Latin America and 34 percent in the Middle East. It recorded 21 percent in Southeast Asia, ranking No. 1 in all three markets.
By market, Latin America's first-quarter smartphone market grew 3 percent from a year earlier to 34.8 million units. Samsung shipped 12.9 million units, accounting for 37 percent, it showed.
The Middle East smartphone market was estimated at 11.0 million units, down 6 percent from a year earlier, as demand fell due to geopolitical uncertainty and rising memory costs. Samsung maintained its leading position by posting 34 percent market share on the back of the Galaxy S26 and A series.
Southeast Asia's smartphone market was also estimated at 21.6 million units, down 9 percent. Samsung shipped 4.6 million units, or 21 percent, taking the top spot. In Southeast Asia, the average selling price (ASP) rose 19 percent from a year earlier to $349, but Samsung increased its market share through solid early sales of the Galaxy S26, A series sales, brand investment and channel expansion.
Separately, Omdia said last month that Samsung ranked No. 1 in global smartphone market share in the first quarter with 22 percent.
