Samsung Electronics said on May 26 it will supply heat pump solutions to large residential complexes in four cities in Poland. The complexes will be built across Bialystok, Przeworsk, Naklo and Bielsk Podlaski under the lead of Polish energy supplier Ekopark, covering about 250,000 pyeong of land and consisting of 370 multi-family housing buildings.

Samsung Electronics will supply large heat pump outdoor units, the DVM S2, and indoor units, the DVM Hydro Unit, for the project. The DVM S2 is equipped with an Active AI function that learns the environment in real time and reduces energy use. The DVM Hydro Unit connects to the DVM S2 to provide hot water and heating up to 80 degrees Celsius, and uses refrigerant to supply hot water together, generating less carbon dioxide than fossil fuel-based boilers.

The Polish government is paying subsidies to reduce carbon emissions in line with Europe's carbon-neutral policy, and local demand for heat pumps is continuing to grow. Samsung Electronics will also deploy its B2B solution SmartThings Pro in line with the market trend. It said SmartThings Pro provides an environment that enables remote integrated management of complexes distributed across the four cities through internet-based connectivity.

Each complex will adopt a Device Management Solution, or DMS, to control indoor and outdoor heat pump units. DMS centrally controls heating and hot water-related facilities to manage heating for the entire building. By connecting to SmartThings Pro, the scope of control can be expanded beyond plant room facilities to smart devices in public facilities within the complex.

Managers can monitor energy use by building in real time through an integrated dashboard. The company said the system also includes a predictive diagnosis function that analyses operating data from system air conditioners to predict failures in advance, enabling early detection of unusual signs and action.

Lim Seong-taek (임성택), a vice president at Samsung Electronics' DA division, said, "We will further advance heat pump technology and the integrated management system to strengthen B2B competitiveness."
