Park In-hwan (박인환), head of the Korea Post, visited the Seoul Mapo and Seodaemun post offices on May 24 to inspect on-site processing of election mail ahead of the ninth nationwide local elections on June 3.

The Korea Post designates the period from May 12 through election day on June 3 as a special election-mail processing period and has shifted to an emergency work system. Election mail to be handled in the local elections totals 32.8 million items, including election brochures and voting guidance notices.

At Seodaemun Post Office that day, Park marked the 50th session of the "Woomunhyeondap Relay" he has held since taking office by giving pizza to staff and hearing their views. Woomunhyeondap is short for "The answer to post office problems lies in the field" and reflects Park's philosophy of communicating with workers to find future directions for the postal service.

Park said, "Because our employees quietly sweat in the field, there is a warm service that connects the happiness of the people." He added, "Using the valuable voices from the field as seeds, I will strengthen the solid foundation of the postal service."
