Kiwoom Securities awarded scholarships to support stable studies for university students from socially disadvantaged groups.

Kiwoom Securities said on May 22 it provided a total of 102 million won in scholarships to 51 university students from socially disadvantaged groups.

The scholarships were funded by a 102 million won donation from Kiwoom Securities. The Korea Student Aid Foundation selected 51 high-achieving university students from socially disadvantaged groups and will provide each with a 2 million won living-expense scholarship.

A total of 6,475 people applied for the selection, recording a competition ratio of about 127 to 1.

This is the fourth time Kiwoom Securities has provided scholarship support since 2024. Eligible recipients include university students from socially disadvantaged groups such as people with disabilities, North Korean defectors, youths preparing for independent living, single-parent households, student heads of household and multicultural families.

Kiwoom Securities has continued its scholarship programme since 2024. The cumulative amount supported so far is 400 million won, and the number of recipients is 200.

A Kiwoom Securities official said, "We hope this helps young people pursue their studies and achieve their dreams without worrying about living expenses." The official added, "We will continue various social contribution activities."
