South Korean video technology-as-a-service (VTaaS) company Katenoid said on Tuesday it will officially support the next-generation device operating system Vega OS through its online video platform Kollus VOD.

Vega OS is a device OS introduced by global platform company Amazon. It was developed to replace the existing Android-based Fire OS. It adopts an independent Linux-based architecture and is designed to be optimised for smart TV and streaming device environments.

Katenoid said the official support will include technical support and development guides so streaming services can be launched and operated stably in the Vega OS environment.

Katenoid CEO Hyung-seok Kim said the rapid changes in streaming environments centred on smart TVs and CTVs mean a swift response to new operating systems determines service competitiveness. He said the official Vega OS support for Kollus VOD will enable companies to deliver stable and scalable streaming services in new device environments.
