The Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission and the Ministry of Personnel Management said on Monday they will use a public nomination system to receive recommendations for four candidates for standing member posts on the Telecommunications Dispute Mediation Committee. The nomination period runs through May 26.

The public nomination system is a participatory personnel system under which the public directly recommends talent for public office. Applications can be submitted through the system's website. Anyone, including self-nominees, can be recommended if they have expertise in related fields such as academia, accounting, law, administration and telecommunications and have knowledge and experience in telecom dispute mediation work.

As use of platforms and digital services increases, user harm and types of disputes related to telecommunications are becoming more diverse. The commission plans to appoint standing members next month, including experts nominated by the public, and complete the formation of the fourth-term Telecommunications Dispute Mediation Committee.

Kim Jong-cheol (김종철), chair of the commission, said, "We will identify outstanding talent with both field experience and expertise through the public nomination system and enhance the credibility of the Telecommunications Dispute Mediation Committee," adding, "We hope for broad interest and participation."

Choi Dong-seok (최동석), minister of personnel management, said, "We hope that public nominations will help identify talent with expertise and a sense of public service," adding, "We look forward to more collaboration and public participation."
