SK Shieldus said on May 18 it will work with NHN Waffleat to expand AI-based care services and daily safety projects under its ADT Caps physical security brand.
NHN Waffleat runs an AI-based care app service that checks on users and manages health and emotional well-being. The companies plan to continue a strategic cooperation framework to respond to demand for digital care based on their respective capabilities.
Their first cooperation will be a smart-home pilot project under the Ministry of Health and Welfare's "AI Applied Products Rapid Commercialisation Support Program (AX Sprint)". SK Shieldus and NHN Waffleat will join the project as part of an NHN consortium and, through 2027, will test an AI and IoT-based smart-home care operating model for a total of 400 households in Gyeonggi province and South Jeolla province.
SK Shieldus will support the project by operating a 24-hour control centre, providing emergency dispatch linked to 119, and managing equipment, based on ADT Caps' nationwide security infrastructure. NHN Waffleat will be responsible for planning the AI care platform, building an operating system and services such as an AI daily-life support worker dialogue service.
The companies also plan to seek various opportunities for collaboration going forward. They plan to strengthen service models that can reduce care gaps for older people by continuously linking ADT Caps' physical security operational know-how with NHN Waffleat's senior app services.
An SK Shieldus official said, "Digital care using AI and smart-home technology will become a core service for responding to a super-aged society in South Korea." The official added, "SK Shieldus will build security and safety systems to prevent social isolation among various underprivileged groups, based on ADT Caps' physical security know-how and the general customer experience of Caps Home."
